“I have actually received 2 dogs here! Samson, a shihtzu bichon is 3 now, and has been the biggest blessing. Izzy, a yorkie bichon is just turning 2, what a sweet disposition she has! Both dogs are healthy, and the only vet bills we've had were check ups and yearly shots. Each time we went, we were treated very well, and if we decide to get a 3rd, we'd go there again!”

“This place is a so horrible! It is obvious that these poor puppies are from puppy mills. This place needs investigated and reported! We visited and were interested in getting a puppy, well, they didnt want to answer any questions. Would not let us see the parents (probably because they are shipped in from God knows where!) and were incredibly rude! These poor faces of these baby puppies, I dont know how they sleep at night. Walking around saying make sure you wipe your hands with Clorox wipes Yeah, who are u kidding, I've known people who have vet bills thru the roof because they're all sick with upper respiratory infections, and all kinds of health problems. Looks like they are the ones that need to clean up their act, and not worry about our freaking hands! I will be making calls to have this place shut down, this is terrible!!!”

“How can anyone sell a puppy for $89, it is a disgrace! Check out Ohiopuppy.com and see how sad these puppies are! This store needs to be shut down! It smells and all the puppies are in small cages on top of one another with mutiple puppies in 1 cage! Do not BUY a puppy from here! Soon enough it will be shut down and the puppies will need to be RESCUED!”

“This is strange that Canine Design is not the same place listed before and NOT the same place everyone has the gripe about! We are talking about K-9 Design in YOUNGSTOWN, for some reason the info above was suddenly changed. So, the Canine Design Grooming in Akron is not the same place as K-9 Design Grooming (aka puppy mill brokering store) at 3620 Belmont Ave. Check out the K9
Design on Belmont if you want to be disgusted by their blatent selling of poorly bred and inhumanely cared for puppies.” -

“I have called several times and there is no grooming ocurring at this place. There are shady people coming and going all the time though. So, why is it called a grooming business? Why don't they just call it a weekend puppy mill shop? Selling pups for $89? Are people really that blind to think they come from loveable, private breeders? Wake up people!! It is obvious the previous comments from Krysta came from Marti, Steve, James, Mark or maybe even Michael!!”

“I am EXTREMELY happy with the Shih Tzu / King Charles Spaniel I purchased from K-9 design. She was well taken care of and when I took her to the vet they confirmed how she was a healthy young puppy. The staff was friendly and helpful. She has been the perfect addition to our family and I will definitely return to K-9 design if we ever decide to get another puppy.”

“I have stopped in this store several times after my sister bought a very sick puppy from these people. This is the same guy who has been hosting those creepy hotel puppy sales for years. The place is filthy and the workers are terribly rude. It is obvious this is a business where profit is the main concern. After my last visit I literally was ill thinking about those poor animals and the awful conditions in which they were kept. Thank goodness my sister's dog is now OK, although the vet bills were over $1000. Please don't shop at this place, it is worse than Petland and Petland is a hellhole!!”

“Nobody in the store wants to answer any questions about the puppies. They get mean and nasty and ask you to leave. The puppies didn't seem to be very healthy and didn't act like normal puppies do when I was there. I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone.”

“So sad how my 13 year old saved all her money for a new puggle puppy to find out that she bought a horribly sick puppy! We had her less than 50 hours and we had to take her to the Vet to be told she had full lower lung pnemonia, a rectal and abdomin hernia and worms. As you can image we were horrified to have to tell my daughter how sick she was! Needless to say she went back to the store because we were not prepared to care for such an ill puppy. My daughter hopes and prays for her every day! DO NOT BUY A PUPPY FROM THIS STORE! THEY ARE NOT PROPERLY BRED AND THEY ARE NOT LOVED AND CARED FOR! So, Steve I am answering your question you so rudely put to me on Friday during all this trauma you caused to our family: I KNOW WHAT KIND OF PERSON YOU ARE... INHUMANE!”

“I visited the store, was harrassed and had the police called on me FOR NO REASON!!! A stranger had to come to my defense to get the police off my back. Thank you blonde stranger.
Marti that posts good things about the store, is that the same Marti that works there??
I over heard someone complaining about a sick puppy they purchased, their vet recommended the puppy be put down it was that sick. From other comments posted it seems to be a pattern....” -

“I bought a puggle puppy for my girlfriend as an Easter gift from this place. The night we got it home it started to have vomit and shake uncontrollably. We took it to the ER vet care and were told the dog had to stay overnight. The next day we got a call saying the puppy had passed away 15 minutes ago.. The cause? Flies!! They had laid eggs near the pups rear end and when hatched the larve crawled inside the pup. This cause extream inturnal damange. Upon doing more research we have found out this puppy came from an Amish puppy mill in PA... We were unable to get any kind of response from the shop owners so we will be filing a law suit. After talking to my vet he said never buy unless you can see both parents!!”

“I agree... K-9 design is a puppy mill/broker and should be shut down... After working at a pet store that sells dogs for years I've learned where the dogs come from... My mother bought a peke-a-poo at K-9 (against my advice) and took it to the vet that day. It had an upper respiratory infection, a hernia that was going to cost $2000 to repair (not an imbuical that is common) and signs of parvo... My mother had to fight with them to return the SICK dog and finally after 2 days they agreed to take the dog back after her vet and ASPCA contacted them. I've also talked to other people that have had similer things happen to them from buying a dog there... I'm not saying you can't get a healthy one there (If your lucky) but buy a puppy from someone that is a good breeder, that keeps their dogs in the house, that doesn't mix them, that has both parents on site and has all health clearances... I breed Golden Retrievers and Pugs and I would never ever think of selling an unhealthy puppy!!”

“About the Puppies at K-9 Design... Amazing how animal activists (terrorists) can LIE, LIE LIE. Go see for yourself. We have a pet store that sells other pets and we frequently visit the shop. The puppies are very clean, the puppies are brought from local breeders, no more than 40 minutes local of K-9 Design... The puppies are checked by each breeders vet, up to the date on shots, and healthy. Oh and definately NO fleas.. I think A few people have jelly on their face!! My family bought puppies there and zero problems, and also they have a FANTASTIC REPUTATION for return customers..”

“I have been a dog groomer for 7 years and have been involved with all sorts of animals since I could walk. I went to a bird show at the Holiday Inn to get some stuff for my 2 birds, and came across the low-lifes that are selling these puppies there. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!!! They are criminals in my mind and don't deserve to even own dogs, let alone breed and sell them. I took a look at those puppies out of curiosity and I was horrified. They are entirely too young to even be out with the public, let alone be sold. A good breeder wouldn't let any Tom, Dick or Harry come and hold their 8 week old puppies. It is completely unheard of. Not only are these puppy mill dogs, they are so sickly and flea infested I would be suprised if any of them made it to their first birthday without intensive veterinary work. I was completely disgusted and wanted to yell at them. Anyone who is thinking about getting a puppy there I HIGHLY suggest you look elsewhere. Those people should be ashamed of themselves for commiting these crinmes against the poor little puppies.”

“I have to agree that the people were very rude and seemed like they were only in it for the money. At one point the people who worked there were walking around with food in their hands, eating while talking to customers about the dogs. Also, one of the puppies that I looked at had a raw spot on it's back beside its tail like it was biting itself. And three of the puppies in one of the cages all got into a fight and instead of sticking his hand in to seperate them, the guy walked over and hit the cage to make them stop.”

“After reading that poor review I found the comments to be wrong. I am the owner of 2 well taken care of dogs and know others that have purchased dogs from K9 Design. No bad comments about the operators of K9 Design or the health of the puppies. The store is kept clean and the cages are well maintained. Everyone has their own opinions but certain groups of people think that selling dogs is wrong. They will show up and cause problems at all pet shops! Get a life! Pet shops are not Petting Zoos! If you want a pet look at it and hold it and purchase it. Enjoy your pets, that's why God put them on this earth.”

“I was recently at the shop to look at the puppies they were selling. I'm absolutely appalled by the treatment from the owner and/or workers. My mom's Chihuahua passed away a couple of years ago and only lately has she decided to go looking for a new puppy. We were referred to the shop by someone who had been there so we drove all the way there to see what sort of puppies they had. Hands down, we fell in love with every puppy there and I even screamed and cried because I just loved them. But something seemed shady with the people who were working there. Over and over while we were walking from cage to cage, we were asked repeatedly if we wanted to hold any. And the girl working there even told us that if we wanted to hold any, just to let her know. My mom and I each held a Boston Terrier and I later held a Chocolate Lab. Right when we were seriously talking about purchasing both of the Boston Terriers, my mom decided to hold an Italian Greyhound and when it was in her arms, I walked over to her. While standing there, the one gentleman asked, irrationally, if we planned on buying a puppy that night. I looked at my mom and smirked because her and I both knew how hard it was to lose our dear Chihuahua. And before we even had a chance to answer his question, he chirped back, Only go look at puppies if you're prepared to buy one. If you're not buying one, you have no business holding one. We were stunned and my mom was kind of speechless. Then rudely, in front of the other customers there, he said, This is not a zoo. Can you please give me the dog back. Well that was that. Thinking back on it, it was humiliating. My mom kept saying, I'm never coming back here and I'm going to make sure everyone I know knows how you treated us, and she walked out. I, more calmly, told the guy, plainly, how incredibly rude he acted and he had nothing to say. On the way out, there was a small family standing in the entrance. The guy asked politely to them after snapping back at me, How can I help you? They, of course, said that they were looking for a puppy so I told them not to plan on looking unless they were sure they were going to buy the one they put their hands on. And I told another woman the same thing in the parking lot. I hope these people left. I regret that I left when I did because I had more to say. So on the drive home, I called them, told them where I came from and asked what business they had to be so rude. My mother was in tears, hurt by the vulgarness of the situation. His response was that it was for the puppies safety that we didn't hold them because some of them were as young as 8 weeks old. He continued to say that there were about 300 people in and out of the doors all day long and it was scaring the puppies and three of them had already thrown up. Never was I rude or out of line, but a short time later, he hung up on me. Now, little do these people know, I myself, work with dogs closely all the time. I have a high education on animals. Dogs, especially puppies, crave human attention. They want to be held. They want to be the center of attention. They do not [as they were at this shop] want to be cooped up in small cages with other breeds, lying on bare wire, shivering with a bright fluorescent light shining on them. Those conditions are more likely to make a dog sick than being held. And they are puppies, they throw up every day like human babies do. And they NEED TO BE SOCIALIZED. If this is the way they treat humans, I don't want to know how they treat animals. And I'd be afraid to ever take an animal there to be groomed after seeing the behavior of the workers. I volunteer closely with an animal organization and like I said, I'm appalled at the attitude of these people. Treating the puppies like they were merchandise. Over the phone, the man told me that I had no business holding puppies for fun verses holding one to see if [I] fall in love with it. And I told him that he missed out on a sale because we were considering the two puppies. Now for ANYONE who is experienced with animals, it's obvious that, just like people, puppies all have different personalities in and out of the cage. Dogs do not act the same way with every human. Humans do not act the same with every dog. That is why you need to hold a variety to get a feel of what likes you and what you like. You can't just tap on a cage and say, Oh, I want that one. So I don't know where this man's education came from, but he was entirely wrong and rude. And if he was worried about people coming in and out of the place all the time, they need to tone down there advertisement and keep it a word-of-mouth thing. This place has advertisement for all sorts of puppies in towns as far away as where I live. So my review is, obviously, very negative, very poor and I wouldn't recommend anyone doing business with them. They claim that they do business with professional breeders. I would recommend that these people, not the place itself, be looked into by an advocate for animals and their human environment while waiting for a safe home. *As a volunteer, I am reminding everyone that dogs ARE NOT PROPERTY. They are your pet and your family member, just as we are their human and caretaker.* And like I told my mom when we first walked in, something felt shady. I feel that there was a another reason behind his rudeness, besides the the puppies' safety!!!!!”
