“My husband just left Poochie Parlor with my three Akitas. The guy made one of my girls bleed because he cut the nail too short. After constantly telling him to be careful with my oldest, a 11 year old Akita he still managed to make her scream with the way he was handling her.

The staff refused to be accommodating and were rude and downright obnoxious. This place severely lacks in customer service and needs to be shut down! Learn how to run your business.”

“I have a shih tzu that we rescued 6 months ago. She gets groomed once per month and she gets a bath every week because we walk her regularly. It is cold now so we decided to let her hair stay long (it was never really short). We saw the mixed reviews about Poochie Parlor but decided that sometimes people have different experiences. Boy were we wrong this time!

Poochie Parlor butcher my dog and traumatized her. She is not the same. When I returned the next day to speak to them about this, they argued with me and told me that my dog's legs were matted and so they had to take everything off. It wouldn't be so bad if they had a more professional attitude but they did not care, they already got their money and they did not want to take any responsibility for their mistake. They were aggressive and very unprofessional.

To the reviewers who say that I am a bad/poor dog owner, maybe you should tell Poochie Parlor that one size doesn't necessarily fit all. Apparently all they know how to is to shave all the dogs clean. I know this first hand because when I dropped off my dog I spoke to a customer and she said that they do a good job on shaving both her dogs.

I just didn't know that was their specialty!”

Chances are people giving the negative reviews are poor dog owners.

“I've been taking my animals to poochie for years and I was a dog groomer for almost 20 years. They do a great job and every groomer there has at least 2-3 of their own dogs themselves.
My experience with people and the complaints being posted is that people bring their dog in completely matted and don't understand that it cannot be brushed out and that it will also be irritated due to the tightness of the knot to the animals skin. As far as one of their groomers yelling at your dog, it's probably because your animal is poorly trained and extremely difficult to groom. People don't become animal groomers to yell and mistreat them.”

“We have a Pomeranian ( Austin ) 17 years old. He's actually our 4th dog over many years. We've been using Poochie Parlor in Oceanside for several years now and it's been a blessing to find them. We live several towns away and the ride is well worth it knowing our pom is happy when he goes in and looking and feeling great when he leaves. Poochie Parlor was highly recommended by a friend back then. For 17, Austin is in excellent shape, though, I'd feel uncomfortable leaving him at just any groomer. This is not just any groomer, they're lovely people and I and my wife feel totally confident leaving him there. You don't have to leave him long either as they're rather expedient. We used a groomer, well, 20 years back. You would drop him off at 9am, only to have them tell you at 5pm, Can you give us an extra hour? ...
This isn't the case at Poochie Parlor. Like I said, not to be redundant, these folks love animals, it's obvious and they too are lovely as can be.
As far as cons, I just can't think of any. Feel free to use this groomer without any trepidation as we do. I couldn't speak more highly.
Thank you, everyone at Poochie Parlor.”

“I have been taking my Golden Doodle Sparky and my Shihtzu Ben there since they opened around 5 years ago and have never found a better groomer. They don't cage the dogs and they all play together which I love. I have never been so happy with their hair cuts and they are so happy when they get to go there! I recommend them to everyone.”

“This is the worst groomers that I have ever used for my dog. DO NOT GO HERE!..I brought my maltipoo here for a grooming. After the service was over I picked her up and her ears were very irritated. I brought her home thinking the swelling would go down, only to realize that her ears were becoming more and more irritated. I then called the day after to ask them for suggestions. Upon doing so they told me to bring her in, and they would look at her and rinse her ears. I went the next day to be told that my dog had an ear infection when I brought her in which was completely and utterly FALSE!..
The blonde lady then was very rude and told me that there was no way that her ears could have gotten that bad in 2 days. Meanwhile my puppy is shaking her head from the irritation, and has scabs and pus surrounding the entire ear (cartilage and canal). She then proceeded to tell me that I dont know how to take care of my dog and she was a mess when she arrived, which is again completely false. My dog has never had an ear infection in the 5 years that I have had her. Needless to say I now have a dog that is super uncomfortable, can barely walk or lay down because of the pain..and i have to pay for the veterinary bills?!..THIS PLACE SHOULD BE REPORTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY AND MALPRACTICE! STAY FAR AWAY”

“I had used this groomer a few times previously and was satisfied with the service. One day after agreeing to leave 1.5 inches of hair on my Labradoodle puppy, the groomer shaved him down, left a poof on his head and left a poofy tail (he's a Labradoodle and should look like one - not Poodle). His legs were shaved down as well. The poor dog was scratching for a week since his hair was shaved so close to his skin. When confronting the groomer, he kept denying we agreed to 1.5 inches. I asked to speak with the owner and wanted a refund, but she wouldn't go to the phone. This went on for a week till I finally gave up trying. She obviously wanted to avoid a confrontation at all costs. I should have gone back to the store and given her a piece of my mind in person, but I decided not to. I would rather leave a bad review and warn others against going to this unprofessional establishment. In the meantime, I found a great groomer in Bellmore even though it's a few towns away...it's worth it. Do yourself a favor and steer clear of this groomer. They're incompetent and extremely unprofessional.”

“I took my dog there and when i made a surprise visit to pickup him b4 instructed, i walked in on stacy yelling at my maltese. I called a couple days later to express my displeasure with this, she told me that I should try to being groomer and hung up on me. I called back requested to s/w a mgr, some person stated she was (i didn't believe her), i proceeded to tell her my displeasure and she also informed me to go somewhere else. I will never step foot in this establishment again and will tell all of my friends who own pets not to do so. What horrible customer service and they are not that great anyway. stay away from these people!!!”
