“Dog excrement contain blood, and puppies aren't healthy they are to light weight . they are harsh when washing dogs and also when brushing fur. They have many sick pups. Don't buy from here unless your willing to pay for tons of medical bills!”

“i bought a basset puppy from the velvet poodle 10 years ago. the puppy grew and lived to be 10 years old. our family loved her. after our basset died we went back to the velvet poodle and purchased a king charles spaniel. she is almost a year old and doing fine. she is my our families pride and joy!! i had no trouble with the velvet poodle and hope others give it a try. there is always a risk when you buy from a store but if that is what you decide to do, then you should be ready to accept any consequences that would arise. we, though, are happy customers!!”

“Wow, I have purchased several puppies from Velvet Poodle over the years and I have never had any problems. Maddie, my baby chihauhau, my vet said, was in perfect health. My other baby, Zax, a bulldog, was sold to me at a discounted price because he had a defect, but I found them to be knowledgable and helpful. Everything was spelled out up front in an agreement. I did have to wait for 4 months on papers but I knew this because in the purchase agreement it says up to 6 months. My mom and dad bought a dog there too, a Jack, a Jack Russell, and he is the love of their life.”

Extreme Disappointment

“Well I have to say I am extremely disappointed with velvet poodle now. After three whole days of fighting the worms, Gunner passed away from an infection caused by the round worms penetrating the walls of his intestines. When we brought his body back to them, the owner wasn't even there and the manager said she would vouch for us to get a new puppy. When she called the owner who lives and works over an hour away, I spoke with her on the phone. She stated that since he didn't die within the first 5 days he wouldn't be replaced under the 5 day illness policy, which covers internal and external parasites. Then when I requested she meet us there later that day she told me that she is only there on the weekends. We are going in today to discuss our options with her, but we honestly don't really want to take another dog from her in case we have to deal with more Vet bills. Gunners Vet bills were over $200 altogether. Hopefully we can just get our money back, but if not we will be taking her to court and she will be getting shut down. I would not recommend anyone buy any pets from Velvet Poodle. The owner is only interested in making money and not the well-being of the animals in her care.”

“Like I had previously stated I've had my dog Bailee going on a year and a half now, and she is doing amazing, One of the lucky ones We recently purchased a 9 week old Cairn Terrier from the velvet poodle which we named Gunner, and two days later he stopped eating food, and began to vomit immensely. He vomited so much in fact; that he began to vomit up bile, a stomach acid. After a day and a half of vomiting and diariah, he vomited up 2 adult sized round worms. I immediately called my Vet, and brought him in to get dewormed again. He then gave him a vomit and fecal inducer and a syringe to feed him with a medicated soft food he also gave me. Once home he vomited the dewormer back up and couldn't hold anything down that wasn't liquid and still wasn't passing worms as he should've been. The next morning we immediately took him back to the Vet, where he was again given a dewormer, this time a diluted horse dewormer and put on an IV and held at the Vet's office for observation. He's been slowly declining ever since. Will keep posted on his condition. I'm Extremely Disappointed Now With Velvet Poodle!!!!!!!”

Best dog I've ever owned

“I purchased a Miniature Schnauzer from The Velvet Poodle almost 2 years ago. She is one of the most beautiful Miniature Schnauzers I've seen. I can't believe some of the reviews I've read on here. The one issue I've ever had with Bailee is that she had a herniated umbilical chord which is a common occurrence in puppies of any breed. I'm also the proud new owner of a Cairn Terrier. I would recommend buying a puppy from The Velvet Poodle, but only if you know what your looking for and what to look for in a healthy puppy.”

“I got the love of my life there! She's a little orange pomeranian. She 's almost 2. I got her when she was 6 months. It did take persistence for them to send me her papers. She does have patella (Knee) concerns but no problems yet. This is a common problem for pomeranians and you shouldn't breed an adult with this problem or they pass it on to the pups. We have had no other problems with her. I stopped there to look at puppies and fell in love. They did have many, many dogs. It was fairly clean. The help was young but did call the owner with my questions. The postings that I read aren't very positive. I would suggest the owner keep the place spotless, make sure the puppies are healthy, keep customers happy by working with them.”

“i bought a TEA CUP pomeranian from the velvet poodle 4 months ago and still have not received the papers for her when i was suppose to receive them in the mail within 6 weeks.. the owner is claimed to be there on saturdays and when i call she never comes to the phone... nor is my new dog a tea cup... i went in there seven times before i committed to buying her. everytime i went in to the velvet poodle the dog was a different price. i paid an extra hundred dollars for something that she isnt... i am so fed up with this business. it is very unprofessional and very unorganized. PLEASE!!! PLEASE PLEASE NOOOO ONE BUY FROM THIS BUSINESS. I knew it was not a good place to buy dogs but i wanted to save her from those horrible people and that is just want i did because when i got her i had the same promblems all of you have had. she was in the vet hospital for the longest time and costed me an arm and a leg. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT BUY FROM THE VELVET POODLE!”

“My brother bought a shiba-inu puppy(it was his first dog and family pet in his home)from velvet poodle. The first couple of days it was very quiet and slept a lot. He took it to the vet and the pup was diagnosed with parvo(a virus that is huge killer to puppies). The puppy was placed on IVs and lived only a few days after. Velvet poodle would not cover the vet bills nor replace the dog. I DO NOT recommend this place to anyone when buying a pet. Any pet store that throws multiple breeds into a cage or window front can contract diseases from each other especially when you have no clue where the breeds come from. My nieces and nephews were heart broken at the lost of their puppy, don't let this happen to you and your family.”

“i bought a teacup chi from that store back in march, she wasnt very active the first day i got her but the lady said it was just cause she was scared and had all her shots... 2 days later she was even sicker i took her to my vet where they had her on an IV and was t5ying to save her. She didnt last more than 3 more hours and i had to go pick up my pupps body, the owner of the store refused to pay for the vet bill and was not going to give me money but said another puppy would be ok. i was so heartbroken when the first chi died, i went back to the store that day with zoeys body cause she didnt believe me, she than asked for the body and than i could have a new puppy. the dogs are sick there and mistreated. like what was saif earlier, she is only trying to make a buck”

Many vets say not to buy from here.

“I live 30 miles away from Velvet Poodle and have been told by vets up to 80 miles away never to buy from this store. Many die and are very sick. I will never buy from here again. I had a beautiful pom i had bought from here. He was older and so scared of everything which showed he was neglected. So I do see what the vets are talking about. I had to have him cremated 4 months later. The People at Velvet Poodle make it bad for good breeders and should be shut down.”

“I recently aquirred a puppy from a very nice young lady whom could no longer keep her. She bought this puppy at the Velvet Poodle. I called the Velvet Poodle today to see about my new Puppy's sot record as I did not receive one from the previous owner. WOW was I suprised at the receptionists reply to my question. OK here you go. I asked the lady about my puppy's shot record and she told me that there would be a $10.00 fee. I then told her that the puppy was bought there and I just wanted to save her the pain of starting all over with her shots and she replied back thet there was still a $10.00 fee. I then said Ma'am I just do not want this puppy to suffer any unneeded shots and her lack of caring was sad. I can only wonder if this beautiful puppy has ever even had her shots and if her care was even good. I felt like this was not a very loving or caring pet shop. Just a place to make a buck How SAD.”

“I have been going there everyday this week and I thought that every dog in there looked sick. My uncle and I came upon a puppy and it had blood all over the back of it. We told the lady and she went in there and said, Oh I guess it does..... I felt so bad for the dogs that were there. They had poodles outside and their water bowls were always empty. I was afraid to buy the little female rat terrier from there because if I were to buy her, the owners would most likely turn around and keep breeding the dogs. It sure seemed like it was a puppy farm. Very disturbing, and sad.”

“On my visit I saw very dirty aquariums that hadn't been cleaned for a long time. I also noticed the pet cages were small & had feces. Looking back, I probably should have filed an animal cruelty complaint. I will never return there.”
