“We used this groomer for years with no problem and it has only taken us one bad experience to completely switch. We brought our dog up for the 10:30 a.m. appointment they told us was open. We ran errands while she was there, as we usually do, and planned to pick her up on our way home. As she was not ready before we got home, we figured we would just wait for the call to pick her up. Hours and hours went by and we heard nothing from them. Calling them a few times, worried, we received no answer.

We finally decided to drive up there at 4:00 and see what was wrong. After being ignored for almost 10 minutes, the owner, Callie, rudely told us that she wasnt ready, which actually meant that she hadnt even been started. By 4:45 we were so frustrated that we drove back up and decided to wait for her. Giving us a snarky look, the owner ignored us again. When we confronted her about the ridiculous amount of time our dog had been there, she told us that she was frustrated that our dog had so many accidents, which seems reasonable to me since they did not take her out for the SIX hours she was sitting in a confined cage.

We finally got out poor dog back and had to pay for this horrible experience, with no apologies from the owner, only from the embarrassed employee. We found out that they decided to take a birthday party ahead of our dog, making us an hour late to my mothers birthday dinner. Do not go here if you want your dog to be respected.”

“I have taken my dog to Groomingdales for a number of years. He is a Shih tzu and can be a little handful. Groomingdales has the patience and do a very good job with him. I am sure they have even muzzled him for their own safety. As far as the reviewer that suggested this is orchestrated, I guess people don't speak up when something is going good but the minute someone gives an unfair review, like YO MAMA, it makes me mad and I want to share my side of it. As far as the person who had problems, I am sorry that you had a bad experience but to expect Groomingdales to pay for your dog's medical expenses, I think, is unfair. It sounds like you may have bought a dog that had a bad heart to begin with. I know what I pay for grooming, and I can't imagine these girls make enough to afford your vet bill. The years of experience with grooming, and the owners genuine love for dogs, means more to me than a little piece of paper claiming a licence.”

“I have been going to Groomingdales since they opened and I will never go to another groomer. They treat all 6 of my dogs like they are stars! Always give a time frame, always let me know anything I need to know about my babies. I love my dogs like they are my children and I would take them there any day of the week. The owner and all the girls there are sweet as they can be and take top notch care of my dogs. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!”

    “Wow Groomingdales...

You have some very persuasive customers. They actually convinced me NOT to visit.

Too much drama for yo mama.

I noticed alot of your customers attacking these dog owners and what happened to them.

All on the same day. Very weird.

Its like the whole things was talked about and orchestrated among a few of your happy customers. I would hope this isnt true, but there are zero reviews before the bad one, then a bunch of positive ones that attack.

toosmarttobelievethis You should be ashamed of yourself. If you want to support a company, keep going to them, but to add your own personal jab against the dog owners... no way. Does not look good for Groomindales... at all! A review like that is more harm then help.

I'm suprised Pet Grooming Info is even allowing that to stay on as a legitimage review.

    I think I'll stay away...”

“Groomingdales is nothing less than superb! My entire family and I have taken our dogs there without incident for several years. DO NOT BELIEVE the vicious lies and exaggerations that were written about the poor little pooch that suffered self-inflicted injuries do to lack of proper training from the owners. This poor dog's owners care more about destroying an incredible groomer's reputation than they do their dog. On a personal note, these owners can hardly take care of themselves and they continue to fail with this little puppy. Do the pup a favor, take him to a rescue so he can be raised in a loving, caring home by people who actually know a little something about dogs. If you would spend half your efforts on caring for this dog than you do trying to destroy the reputation a lives of good people, I wouldn't be wasting my words on you right now!”

“My dog has been going to Groomingdales since he was a puppy. He always gets the star treament there. I know that all of the girls that work at Groomingdales are animal lovers and would never put an animal in harms way. Remember there are two sides to every story- it sounds like this may be a situation of a bad doggy parents not training or socializing their dog and creating a situation in which the dog is not able to be worked with.”

“I have 2 cocker spaniels that go regularly to Groomindales, and I have had nothing but positive experiences with them so far. They always do a great job. I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience, however, I do have a bit of advice that may help. Having previously worked at a daycare, I know it is important to relay information about the behaviors of the children to their parents. So I personally make a point to ask for a report about my dogs behavior when they are being watched or groomed. Upon their first visit to the groomer (at Groomindales) when they were about a year old, the owner alerted me that one of my dogs freaked out when she was under the blow dryer. She whined and struggled and tried to bite the employees. The other one was just fine. I thanked her for being honest with me. And for me that is not acceptable behavior. I would not let my child behave that way so there's no reason I should let my dog behave that way. I worked with Max and he still hated the dryer. I tried everything. So I ended up requesting xanax from the vet and sedated him before he went in for his next appointment. When I picked up the dogs, the owner said he did great! Since then, it has actually helped him overcome his fear of the dryer. I hope this advice helps you and hope your Yorkie recovers quickly. He's very young, he will bounce back in no time. These creatures always suprise me!”

“I just wanted to write a positive review for Groomingdales and the girls that work there. I'm sure they would not intentionally hurt a dog. I've always loved their haircuts they give my shih tzu. I've never had a problem with them. I do hope your Yorkshire Terrier feels better though.”

“Firstly, it is not necessary for groomers to be licensed. In fact it is one of the only remaining apprenticeship jobs left out there. Just because they do not have a license that anyone can get with a few months training does not mean they have not had years of experience. This other review is not entirely true. My dogs go to Groomingdales and have for years, so I researched it a bit. Turns out the yorkie, at 4 months of age only, has already been kicked out of Petsmart groomers, AND has bit humans! If your dog is going to bite humans and you are unwilling to sedate it or even better, train it...I suggest you learn to groom yourself or get a short haired dog that just needs baths. The dog was biting the groomers from my understanding so they muzzled him. He was flailing, snapping, biting, trying to hang himself, and being crazy. Eventually he did hang himself on the noose. The second it was realized that he was hurting himself, the muzzle and noose were removed and the owners phoned. I'm a loyal Groomindales customer and this is the first incident they have ever had of this nature. I trust them with my dogs over any other groomers in the area and would recommend them to anyone. Please owners, train your dogs, socialize them, and teach them how to behave at the groomer so things like this do not happen to your dog.”

“I'm a little confused why I found Groomingdales (Union KY groomers) under professional services. Let me be the one to tell you, they are anything but... no license, no education, no credentials.

I've been biting my tongue for over a week now, hoping that they would do the right thing, and it doesn't seem like they are going to take the high road. So its my responsibility to make the public aware of the dangers of unlicensed groomers, specifically, Groomingdales - (northern kentucky groomers)

On Aug 30 2008 at 10:00am, we took our 4.5 month old Yorkshire Terrier in for his appointment. Our first appointment with Groomingdales, (Florence groomers). We told them that he had problems at another groomer in town and that we wanted to try some other groomers. We told them that he did not like his nails trimmed so if he gives them any problems,to stop. They gladly accepted him knowing this.

They did his nails at the beginning and as we warned them, he nipped at their fingers at which point, we wanted them to stop. Instead, they decided to put a muzzle on him and go for the nails again. This set poor Calvin into a panic and he struggled and fought until he lost all bowels and then flopped down on the table. They took the leash and muzzle off of Calvin and he did not move (not typical) they CONTINUED to do his nails as he laid there in shock and as the serious injury know as PULMONARY EDEMA began in his lungs.

They still proceeded with the appointment. Calvin was so lethargic at this point, that the groomer did not need to use a leash. He just laid their as his lungs began to fill with fluid and become irritated causing them to bleed.

They put him back in the kennel and called us at 11:07 and said hes ready, and that everything had gone great! Really?!?!?!

20 minutes later, they call us back and tell us that Calvin is now vomiting blood and to hurry and come get him.

10 minutes later they call us again and tell us that Calvin is having trouble breathing and to please hurry.

Still think the appointment went great?!?!?!

Calvin spent the next 4 days in the emergency care of Blue Ash Care Center. They saved his life. Pulmonary Edema is a life threatening injury.

10 days and $2500 later, the owner and the groomer are now refusing to pay for the vet bills... not even half!!! In fact their words were Calvin did it to himself... how callus is that?

Is this who you want caring for your pets when you are not around. Please think twice about ever using this groomer and please warn your friends that use them too.

It may not have happened to you yet, but it only takes on negligent decision and you've lost your best friend.

Use licensed groomers, your pet would, if they had the choice.”
