“Though it's true the store itself isn't kept in the best condition, the animals are treated with the best of care. I've been going to Joy's for years and have not once been disappointed with her work.”

“I had a horrible experience at Joy's Pooch Parlor in Marlboro .... The place is very dirty and the people that work there do not know how to treat dogs //// The worker are also very nasty and do not do what they are told when grooming . Def. would not reccommend ... go to petsmart for the same $ 50 groom !”

    If your dog is difficult

“If your dog is difficult, or generally does not like to be groomed I would not use this groomer.I was going there for a few years and my dog has always been a difficult dog to groom. He will gnaw and bite especially when his hair got matted. I was always appreciative of the extra effort it took to groom, and compensated the groomer accordingly. The last time I went to Joy's, I brought my dog in at 10 am. expecting the same treatment I had always received. I received a call at 230 pm saying we can not finish cutting him, this was half way through the cut. I'm sorry if I caught Joy on a bad day. I know my dog is difficult! Maybe there just so busy it's just not worth their time or effort and didn't need or want my business. All I would have asked for is honesty from the beginning. Just tell me we can't cut your dog he's too difficult. Joy knew he was difficult she has cut him before. But to start something and QUIT half way through is almost unbelievable. I guess the lesson: Finish what you start was never learned in this case. Anyhow, my NEW GROOMER did a great job and didn't even complain.”

“I really have NO CLUE what this person is talking about! Joy's Pooch Parlor is an adorable little shop in Marlboro that is very clean and inviting. I've been taking my dog to Joy's for 12 years now and have never had a problem. Joy is very sweet and greets me with a huge smile every time I come! I love how she lets the dogs play and socialize before they get their hair cuts.! You can tell she really cares! I've tried other grooming shops and it would bother me how they would just shove my dog in a cage in the back somewhere. At Joy's you can see everything that goes on and that makes me feel very safe! I wouldn't EVER go anywhere else!!”

“DO NOT!, I REPEAT DO NOT! take your dog (or any animal!) to this place. I should have seen the warning signs when I arrived at this dirty shack smaller than the shed in my yard. A woman greeted me after I stepped over a pile of toys on the floor that her daughter? was playing with amongst the dog hair that wasn't swept up. The woman then grabbed my dog and placed him in a kennel that was so small he had to crouch his head down and arch his back to fit. They seemed nice enough, and I figured he wouldn't be there long, so it was okay since he desperately needed a bath. I picked him up about 30 minutes later and he was clean, but the people seemed very annoyed and said he barked and cried alot (not so animal friendly I guess). I got him home and noticed he was itching himself more than usual. I looked at him and didn't notice anything, so just figured his skin was a little dry from the bath. I woke up the next morning to find him limping, and blood running down from his armpit and all the fur missing on his leg! I quickly rushed him to the vet where I was told there was large amounts of sticky residue under both his underarms. They asked if he was recently given a bath and I explained I had used a new groomer. They told he had not been rinsed thoroughly and was extremely irritated and chewed most of the fur off. He was in extreme pain and discomfort and had to be put on several medications and wear and elizabethan (cone) collar to prevent more damage. After spending $150 at the vet, I decided to call Joy's Pooch Parlor and let them know the situation. I didn't expect any money back or anything towards the vet bill, but wanted to let them know so other dogsdog owners would not have to go through this. I was very sincere until the the woman on the phone began barking at me (no pun intended!) and demanded it had nothing to do with her and that she would not give me any money if thats what I was looking for! An apology would have sufficed, but I didn't get that either. So to make a long story short, SAVE YOUR DOG AND YOUR MONEY and go somewhere else! I'm sorry Petsmart was booked that day! They are MUCH better! and aren't cruel to their animals and customers!”
